Coronavirus – Update From HSE

The HSE continues to work closely with the government and their partners to contribute to the national response to the coronavirus outbreak.

We understand this is an extremely worrying time for both employers and workers so we have shared their guidance on how they are continuing to regulate and what you need to do if your business remains open. This includes the government’s advice on social distancing. You can find all of this information on the dedicated HSE coronavirus microsite.

Protecting the health and safety of your workers and keeping them up-to-date with information about risks to their health is essential. The HSE are in regular contact with the Unions and employee representatives and you can read their joint statements with the TUC, CBI and the Partnership on Health and Safety in Scotland (PHASS).

In addition to taking a flexible approach to deal with the emerging risks and challenges, the HSE are contributing to the national response in other important ways. Latest developments include working with manufacturers and industry to remove obstacles to the manufacture and supply of hand sanitiser products and reduce supply chain issues. Responding to a request from the government’s Chief Scientific Adviser they have conducted a rapid review to consider the evidence supporting the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) provided in health care settings.

If you need advice on specific issues, the HSE coronavirus microsite is regularly updated with the latest guidance on a range of topics and you can also sign-up to receive their coronavirus newsletters.
